RAGTIME (2018)

RAGTIME March 2018.

“You will be blown away by the incredible voices of the cast of ‘Ragtime’ at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center. Alex Gibbs as Coalhouse Walker Jr. and Marion Grey as Sarah deliver a soaring “Wheels of a Dream” that alone is worth the price of admission. Luis Salgado’s direction and choreography are masterful and creative and with a cast of nearly 30…The nine-member musical ensemble is superb and fills the Axelrod Performing Arts Center to the brim with Stephen Flaherty’s syncopated music…Only thing wrong with ‘Ragtime’ is the songs and voices are still stuck in my head. Oh, wait, that’s not a problem…”

- Gretchen Van Benthuysen, Two River Times, Theater Critic

"The proverbial 'theatrical mirror' is in no way hidden from view as RAGTIME's award-winning and socially aware director/choreographer has brilliantly meshed current climate with the palpable past..." - Full Article

IN THE HEIGHTS (GALA THEATER)

IN THE HEIGHTS at GALA HIspanic Theatre was the U.S Premier of the Spanish language version of the TONY award winning musical.

in 2018 it was nominated for 18 Washington D.C's HELEN HAYES AWARDS - Nominations on BWW

"In the meantime, here’s a welcome chance to revisit “In the Heights” in the language of the fathers and grandmothers who first arrived in the United States and paved the way for all the children and grandchildren who followed. It’s a chance, ... to counter the current political climate by celebrating these American citizens and what they have contributed to their new country." - Washington Post

Jala-la-Pala (Puerto Rico)

Zuccotti Park, The Musical

"I feel that if it were not for Salgado Productions, we might not be doing this play at all in the Venus Adonis Festival. We are in California, and there's no way we could produce "Zuccotti Park" from here.  It's such a relief, after working so hard,  to hand over your musical and know that it is in capable hands, and you can trust that it will turn out to be a professional presentation that you can be proud of." – Vatrena King (Zuccotti Park Composer)

"I loved the work. It's amazing how you get to do so much with so little, and how effective it is when the direction of a text is based on truth honesty, and emotions are focused onthe real experiences of the human being (as it applies and impact everyone - without prejudice, preconceptions or agendas), the result is extraordinary! The work is focused on a very huge in the love for the craft and humanity, and I'm deeply touched" - Javier E. Gomez (Translated to English form original review in Spanish)

"I learned more about the reasons this movement came about in 90 minutes than I could have imagined. And, I learned it all through the power and beauty of music, song and dance. Luis Salgado and Company do a spectacularly brilliant job of helping us understand the multi facets of Occupy on all sides." - Priscilla Hernandez

"I saw tonight was the most heartfelt, raw and poignant show I have seen in a VERY long time. The young cast had poured it's heart and soul into this work, and there was NOT a false note either sung or said during the whole night. Luis Salgado looked deep into the work and created images and moments that were powerful, touching, and literally had me in tears 3 times during the night. The music is BEAUTIFUL, and flowing and breaths life into the characters as their words flow into song, and spoken conversation." - Michael Maples

"We are the most fortunate writers on the planet, because our magician is Luis Salgado.  The most passionate, intense, dangerous, fun and honest collaborator who guides us across that bridge with bright eyes.  He grabbed our vision, winked in trust, and jumped out of the plane.  He teaches us every day about our own story, and we can't help but smile, nod, and trust him with our dream of dreams.I'm a paragraph. Click here to add your own text and edit me. I’m a great place for you to tell a story and let your users know a little more about you." - Andrew Beall, Song of Solomon Writer

"Director Luis Salgado helps nurture this new musical and gives it the size that the music calls for. Salgado made great use of this long space in the blocking, especially in the transitions. This musical shares the epic style of Les Miz, but in the world of Ancient Israel and King Solomon." - Nikomeh Anderson (MONOLODGE)

The Latin Quarter

"Skeptics need not to worry. 'Latin Quarter' lives up to Revel's promise of delivering a 'talented, sexy' show thanks to a brisk pace, eclectic performers, amazing flamenco dancers and an overall fun show."

"Plenty of dancing, including some great ballroom work by Dmitry & Darina, and the choreography by Luis Salgado is top-notch as many of the dances feature a cast of about a dozen rhythmically tapping in sync – Latin style"

"As part of Salgado Productions I get to experience the unbelievable power/FIRE of art that is in Luis' heart as he works. The process makes it impossible for anyone in the room to hide the light that is in everyone's soul, or push it down... the only thing that we can do is let it scream out loud with our feet, with our voices, with our LIGHT, and that is ART WITH A PURPOSE"   - Heather Hogan Co-Artistic Director
